Jackson has the keys to his house!!! Print
Written by Tim West    Saturday, 04 May 2013

Yesterday, Friday 3 May 2013, Jackson and Sally picked up the keys to Jackson's new house at the Getting A Life Intentional Community in Phillip, ACT. This is an absolutely momentous day for Jackson, Sally and their family. Sally has been working on creating a home for Jackson for over ten years, and the Getting A Life project, which she founded with two other mothers Karen Connaughton and Cheryl Pattrick, has been working constantly on the project for the last six years.

Jackson will be moving in over the next week, with his co-resident Adam. Karen's son Daniel Connaughton and Cheryl's son Ben Pattrick will be moving in to other houses in the development soon too.

We have been backed over the years by many, many people, including Katy Gallagher MLA, the Chief Minister of the ACT and Joy Burch MLA in her former capacity as the ÅT Minister for Housing and Disability Services. The Getting A Life Intentional Community will be opened by Her Excellency Quentin Bryce, Governor General of Australia, on 20 May 2013.

We are absolutely ecstatic that this day has finally come, and we only wish that Jackson's father Mac could have been here to see it.

The first photos of Jackson and Adam exploring their brand new home are below.

Jacko's kitchen shower! Print
Written by Tim West    Sunday, 14 April 2013

Sally and Jackson had a lovely afternoon at Yarralumla Bay with generous and funny friends for a kitchen shower on Sunday 14th April. Everyone gave Jackson wonderful, useful and colourful gifts, we all wore aprons, balloons full of hot air floated delicately from trees and many spatulas were auctioned to gather funds for Jackson's art works which will adorn his new abode at the Getting A Life intentional community. Thank-you most fine and benevolent friends.

Wall hanging for Jackson's house made Print
Written by Tim West    Tuesday, 02 April 2013

Over Easter 2013, Jackson's family built him a huge wall hanging to hang in his house at the Getting A Life intentional community, once he moves in. Jackson's mother Sally was the creative genius behind the hanging. The hanging is made from postcards glued to a hessian backing. The postcards are almost all free ones from from Avant Card, and there are a few from the Sydney Mardi Gras collection from their "35 Years In 36 Postcards" collection, released in early 2013.

Photos were taken by Jackson's brother Tim. In the photos, you can see Jackson's brothers Duncan and Lewis, Lewis' girlfriend Freyja and Tim's boyfriend Shawn. ABC Canberra came along to film the event, and also got some footage of Lewie and Sally discussing Lewie's recent win at the Cirque de Demain international circus competition in Paris.

The very last photo is the finished product!
